SURVI addresses intestinal vascular accidents, the most serious being mesenteric infarction. These intestinal vascular diseases can constitute absolute emergencies, posing a high risk of mortality or serious sequelae without proper diagnosis or treatment.
2016
Prof. Olivier Corcos and his team established the first French and international center at Beaujon Hospital dedicated to the multidisciplinary management of digestive infarction and intestinal vascular diseases.
SURVI (Structure d’URgences Vasculaires Intestinales – Intestinal Vascular Emergency Structure) features a specialized intensive care unit within the gastroenterology department, including IBD and nutritional support, benefiting from close collaboration between the teams at Beaujon Hospital and Bichat-Claude Bernard Hospital.
Thanks to this protocol, the survival rate exceeds 70%.
The medical project of SURVI focuses on intestinal viability through rapid and tailored treatments (medication protocols, revascularization, conservative surgery) and significant efforts in nutritional and digestive rehabilitation.
With the SURVI program, prognosis has significantly improved, and severe sequelae are avoided in most cases.
In addition to medical and surgical care, SURVI offers patients the opportunity to participate in a large cohort aimed at deepening knowledge about these poorly understood pathologies and defining new strategies to enhance diagnostic capabilities and treatment outcomes.
