The network

In 2016 the 1st Intestinal Vascular Emergency Structure (Structure d’URgences Vasculaires Intestinales – SURVI) was established at APHP, within the Bichat and Beaujon hospitals, specifically dedicated to the management of intestinal ischemia and vascular diseases. Following the model of Stroke Centers and Cardiology Intensive Care Units, SURVI aims to improve the catastrophic prognosis of mesenteric infarction.

The therapeutic strategy of SURVI, developed by Professor Olivier Corcos, focuses on preserving intestinal viability and utilizes a multidisciplinary, case-by-case approach. It involves collaboration between gastroenterologists specializing in vascular digestive diseases, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, digestive surgeons, anesthesiologists-intensivists, and cardiologists.

SURVI has demonstrated a remarkable reduction in mortality from 70% to a survival rate of 70%, while preserving the digestive tract in the majority of cases.

The SURVI-APHP healthcare initiative now spans the entire Île-de-France region, treating over 1,000 patients.

The establishment of the national SURVI network will soon enable patients in other regions to access SURVI care across the metropolitan territory. This network will focus on clinical collaboration between centers, knowledge dissemination, and the organization of national academic research on ischemia and intestinal vascular diseases.

Network composition

SURVI is a network dedicated to care, research, and education focused on ischemia and intestinal vascular diseases.

SURVI offers MULTIMODAL, MULTIDISCIPLINARY, AND MULTICENTER care, including hospitalization, sometimes in a dedicated unit at Beaujon Hospital (APHP).

The 1st center, established under the leadership of Prof. Olivier Corcos, a gastroenterologist, is the Beaujon/Bichat-APHP center.

This center integrates a multidisciplinary approach to organization and care :
